So I'm sure most everyone already knows this stuff but I just wanted to vent... Why in the heck is it so expensive to be healthy! The majority of the food available has been produced using pesticides, antibiotics, artificial additives and genetically modified organisms. This junk can accumulate in our bodies over time and cause a ton of nasty health problems.
"Research has shown that organic products have higher nutrient levels, around 27% more vitamin C, 29% more magnesium and 21% more iron, along with other vital vitamins, minerals and essential acids."
So why is it even a question? Why doesn't everyone WANT organic foods? Why wouldn't everyone want the best quality food for their children? Well, First off sometimes you just can't freaking afford it! We've had to narrow down our choices and buy only organic foods that get sprayed more, or that absorb pesticides more than others, like strawberries and blueberries for example. And sometimes we just don't get very much at the store, or we just buy it for our kids. People are also just not informed with issues such as these. For some reason people think that if it's in a store, in a box, falsely advertised with saying such as low fat, no sugar, when It's stuffed with nasty things like aspartame, which is horribly bad for you, people think, Yeah! This is good for me! Or like that ridiculous 7 up commercial that tells you it's rich in antioxidants. Rich in antioxidants meaning they put in a little bit of cherry juice concentrate along side the sugar and dyes. Arrgggg!
Other pesticides and chemicals are used to promote growth and plump up production as quickly as possible. Nasty residue remain in meat, eggs adn meat, not only are people affected by the growth hormones from these products, but links have been made between antibiotic use and the rise of super bugs - bacteria thats developed a resistance to commonly-used antibiotics. Scientists believe that this widespread exposure of farm animals to bacteria has allowed them to develop a resistance, and may be why many antibiotics are no longer effective in treating illnesses in humans. HELLO!!
So, by all means people, keep buying the crap. And I'll continue to always be just a little hungry. Or how about this, everyone just buy organic! Then eventually the cost will go down, some of our health care issues would be fixed, and we all will be happy and full!

I hear you Healthy food is expensive. It sucks. We are lucky to have an organization called bountiful baskets and for $25 every 2 weeks we get a big basket of organic fruits and veggies. It is plenty of fruit and veggies for 2 weeks and it is an awesome deal. Its always a surprise what we will get but I love it!
